Mk3 Ford Capri V8 conversion, utilising the factory Capri shell, with GRP bonnet made in-house, a highly tuned version of the 3.5L Rover V8 engine, which features an SD1 Vitesse bottom end, ported/ polished heads with big valves, bulleted valve guides, shorter springs, new style stem oil seals, Crower 50233 hi-lift camshaft, Rhodes anti-pump lifters, Cloyes dual roller timing set, Edelbrock Performer intake manifold, Holley 500 cfm 4 bbl carburettor. Spark is taken care of by the fitment of a modified-drive Chevy HEI distributor, fitted with Mallory hienergy coil, cap, rotor & 9mm Taylor Hot Wires in flourescent orange colour. Using a Rover auto box bellhousing, & an adapter plate made in house, I have mounted a Mk1 Capri 4 speed manual box to this engine. Drive accomplished using a lightened Rover V8 flywheel with a 10" rover clutch cover & a 2.8L Ford clutch plate/ release bearing. Engine dress up is accomplished using Rover-Chevy rocker cover adapter plates, Billet flamed Ally rocker covers, and H.T. lead tidys. Ally Hilborn scoop handles cold air induction. Car is projected to be completed by late 2013.
